If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It. Or...?

Uncategorized Apr 02, 2019

I guess you have heard this phrase a few times before...

«If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It». It was Walt Disney himself that said those words, and he was the living proof it!

But, it's not like you just have to sit down, close your eyes, dream of what you want, and then *BOOM* you get it. Walt Disney didn't do that. He had a dream, a passion, and he went all in to make that dream come true.

It's the same thing with you and your dream. To make it come true, you have to do something...

But, you can't just start off doing «something», not knowing what it is you really want to accomplish. What your goal really are. What you are here to do.

In that case you will only be going around in circles, not reaching your destination. Of course you will get something out of it. You will get results... But those results so often involve frustration and resignation.

Your Values

You have to define your values. If you do something that is not aligned with your values, you will feel that bad feeling as you go. You will not go all in either, because you know that «something» is wrong. This is not really you.

I have talked about our values earlier, and in my upcoming online course «Finding Your Life Purpose» and my premium one-one coaching program «Create Your Dream Career» we dig deep down in our values. This is an important job to do, because some of your values might work against you!

Don't underestimate the «dreaming part»

I hope I don't make you confused. It's not like I say that the «dreaming part» is not something you should focus on. You should. It's just as important for the process as your values, a clear and defined goal and a «why».

With a «why» I mean your reason for wanting to go all in. What you want out of your life, why you want a new job, a new career.

Like for me, I wanted to be «free». I wanted to travel back and forth from Norway to Florida, USA whenever I want. Because I have my family in both these two places. I wanted to experience and enjoy while I could.

Paul and I on one of our «workations» in Florida (workation as in a mix of work and vacation)

I wanted a job where I could work from anywhere. Where I could help people who were in a situation I once was. Who wanted to do something else with their life. To make it short: I wanted to help people go from where they are today, to where they want to be.

... And I wanted to have a job that made me smile. A job that made me look forward to the next day. That is my «why». I know that many of you want the same.

I would never have made it to my «destination» if I had skipped the «dreaming part». Never.

When I was dreaming it gave me fuel to go on. Even if it was hard from time to time.

If you spend some time dreaming, you will see things more clearly. It will give you fuel to take the next step on your journey towards your very own dream career. If you don't dream, you will stay right where you are.

So.. when it all comes down to it, Walt Disney was right:

If you dream it, you can do it!
